This XML document lists all examples of citations and references in TEI. As a work in progress, it is not yet completed.

Status

I have combed the 14th edition of The Chicago Manual of Styule and the 3rd edition of the MLA Handbook to cull as many challenging examples as possible. I have not made it through the whole volume. The lists below describe my progress. In general, I have included most examples for text type entries. I need to add entries for non-text type entries.

Many citations for books and some journals have been entered. These categories are covered:

Done But Still Experimental

• authors with pseudonyms
• anonymous authors
• more than one author
• any mix of authors, editors, compilers and translators
• author in the title (imporant for some types of reference systems)
• an entry with a sub-title
• titles ending with puncuation, such as "!" or "?"
• works that require the responsibility to be spelled out
• republished books (These entries still need work)
• multiple publishers
• intro, foreward, and other parts in a book
• a work with a translated title
• mutli-volume works
• series
• journals with continuous and non-contious pagination
• articles published in journals as installments
• magazines
• newspaper articles
• editorial
• letter to editor
• reviews
• web pages
• books published on the web
• letters
• cartoons
